China Experts Panel Recommendations

News from Anders Carsten Damsgaard, Ambassador of Denmark to China:

“Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen established a China Experts Panel last autumn following a visit to China. The 14 members of the China Experts Panel were personally appointed by the Foreign Minister, and included senior business executives and representatives of academia with extensive knowledge and experience on China and the Chinese market.

The Panel was tasked to present concrete recommendations to the Government on how best to support Danish economic and commercial interests in China in light of the changing opportunities and challenges created by developments in China. Panel discussions have focused on the use of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and SME’s, on China’s new strategic policy ambitions such as the Belt & Road Initiative and Made in China 2025, as well as on overall framework conditions for the Danish business community trading and investing in China. Foreign Minister Samuelsen chaired the three meetings of the panel held between November 2018 and February 2019. I also had the opportunity to participate in all three meetings.

The Panel has now presented 9 recommendations to the Foreign Minister who has pledged to review them carefully and take steps to follow up. For the Expert Panel’s recommendations in English, please email to dcc@dcc.hk.
